Gary Barlow has praised Take That band mate Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field for using a surrogate for their third child Colette Josephine Williams.

Speaking to Hello magazine, Barlow revealed that he knew the couple were struggling to have another child, and applauded their decision to use a surrogate mother.

“I knew they had been having problems conceiving. It was a very upsetting time and Ayda was really going through it. Rob told me they were going to go down the surrogate route and I thought that was a perfect solution,” Barlow said.

He also revealed that Williams is now a ‘changed man’ thanks to fatherhood and that the whole Take That band have ‘come a long way.’

“Rob is a changed man. He’s a wonderful dad and Ayda is a top mum. They are just a lovely family. Rob has realised that is where happiness comes from. We’ve all come a long way,” he added.

The X Factor judge couple announced the birth of their daughter in September this year and Field candidly opened up about using a surrogate mother via Instagram.

In a September 7 post, Ayda Field revealed to the world the new family addition with a heartfelt Instagram post. In it the family touch hands and she admitted it had been a ‘difficult’ journey to conceive baby Colette.

“It has been a very long and difficult path to get here, which is why we have kept it on the down low.
Family comes in all forms, and this little lady, who is biologically ours, was carried by an incredible surrogate mother, to whom we will be eternally grateful.

We are over the moon to have this beautiful baby girl in our lives and so blessed that we live in a world which makes this possible,” Field wrote.
