Something festive was occurring on the streets of Barry in Wales on Friday. The Christmas decorations were up, there were holly wreaths on display and even a santa light decorating one wall.

It could only mean one thing... James Corden and Ruth Jones were in town filming the long-awaited Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.

The residents of the town took to the streets to see the stars of the sitcom favourite return to Trinity Street. The Mirror reported that crowds were lined up hoping to catch a glimpse of the cast.

Mat Horne, Rob Bryden and Joanna Page were all seen on set with James Corden. But there was another arrival that even the cast and crew were not expecting, as the show’s creators were reunited with one of the original child stars of the show - Ewan Kennedy who played one of the three baby Neils.

Now ten, young Kennedy headed down to set with his mum to see if anyone remembered his cheeky smile.

Mum Petra Kennedy, 41, told Wales Online, "It was great. James remembered Ewan. We had a chat with James and Ruth [Jones]. They were really pleased to see him and they were reminiscing about when he was little.

She added, "Ewan just wanted to see everyone and get some photos he can remember - he's always seeing James on TV."

Just this week, Larry Lamb was asked about the upcoming one-hour special while he was on ITV’s Loose Women.

The actor tried not to give too much away, admitting he’d been dodging questions about the return of the sitcom for several years, but he would say that he thought what they’d “managed to do was very clever.”
