Yahoo News GBBO's Paul and Noel tease a huge surprise is coming
Paul Hollywood has promised that fans of the Great British Bake Off have a massive surprise awaiting them soon.
The baker is leading Channel 4's rebranding of the reality competition along with new presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig as well as new judge Prue Leith in hopes of recapturing the magic of the BBC years.
At the first press screening for the new series on Monday night (August 21), Paul let slip that Bake Off is putting the finishing touches on something top-secret to air later in the year.
"We've done something very special for later on in the year," the veteran judge teased. "We spent an evening in a different place, dressed very differently.
"That was for me, although we were all absolutely exhausted, I've never done what we did with anybody before. It was hilarious, absolutely hilarious."
"I forgot that was real and not a dream," Noel Fielding joked.
Hmmm, what could this big surprise be? A cookie orgy? Did they wrap themselves up as human-sausage rolls? Did they all get their soggy bottoms out? Ooh, let's hope not.
Or maybe this big surprise revolved around booze in some way? Paul recently revealed that some of his former co-workers in the BBC era would blush over the amount of drinking over the Channel 4 reboot.
"There is lots of laughter," he promised. "There is certainly more drinking going on - much more than before. The only person to stay up more than anybody before was probably Mary. Last night we stayed up until late."
The all-new Great British Bake Off will make its long-awaited Channel 4 debut on Tuesday, August 29. Watch the slightly creepy first trailer below:
