The Great British Bake Off always has fans on tenterhooks, way more than any quaint little show about baking has any right to.

But last year, new judge Prue Leith caused a storm (in a teacup) when she accidentally spoiled the result of the finale due to a time zone difference.

She jokes about the gaffe now, but admits in an interview with Radio Times that it wasn't all fun and games at the time.

She said: "I thought, 'Oh my God, it's after 10.30.' And so I immediately tweeted. And of course it was five hours out or something."

"It was very scary at the time and horrible. I had so many people saying, 'You ruined my life, how could you?'

While on the promo trail for the new series of The Great British Bake Off, Prue revealed that she was banned from paying tribute to her friend and previous judge Mary Berry during the last episode of her debut series.

The brand new series of Bake Off is very nearly upon us at last, as the famous tent will be pitching up on Channel 4 again on Tuesday, August 28 at 8pm.

Paul and Prue will both be back to judge the bakers' creations, with Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding also returning as hosts.

The new line-up of bakers have now been revealed. If you want to get your bets on, maybe keep an eye on Prue's Twitter.
