'Genius' 65p gardening hack keeps slugs away from home grown veggies easily
Gardening enthusiasts may be spending this time of year planting flowers, or growing their own fruit and veg.
Yet those cultivating home-grown produce may encounter issues with pests, as slugs, snails and caterpillars can damage foliage and fruits.
However, one gardener revealed a simple 65p trick that deters these animals, a revelation which left social media users astounded. The internet user named @bilgemehmet23 regularly shares lifestyle and gardening content online.
In the viral video, which accrued over 124,000 likes, he's seen applying table salt around the rim of a modified plant pot.
He explained: "I put that around here really cheap salt, the cheapest salt you can get. And I just go round the edges like I showed this so many times guys, honestly."
Next, he places the pot on the ground and pushes it into the soil, saying: "I've got it central. Give it a little push-down. There you go. Leave it. And that will protect my plant and I'll be able to water it individually."
He continued: "People laugh at me but I've never had slug problems before and I just had an idea one day I said let's just try it. And it worked for us."
An off-screen woman said: "If we didn't put this on, by the morning, we'd have a slug problem again." The tip left TikTok viewers impressed as they pledged to try the method themselves.
One user expressed their gratitude, saying: "I've used this and I thank you. GREAT ADVICE." Another shared their struggle: "I've got big slug problem." Meanwhile, a third proclaimed: "This is genius."
