Glastonbury Festival weather forecast as Met Office predicts sun is here to stay

Glastonbury Festival is set to be warm with chance of some rain showers, according to the Met Office. The beloved festival will return to Worthy Farm from June 26 to 30, with Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA set to headline, with plenty of rumours circulating about the 'surprise' slot.

As ever, speculation continues about the weather forecast, including some chance of thunder at Worthy Farm. But the Met Office has confirmed the festival will largely be warm and sunny, with the occasional rain showers throughout.

The festival gates open at 8am on Wednesday (June 26) and the Met Office suggest revellers will experience sunny weather with temperatures peak around 25 to 27 degrees. The weather forecaster has warned that "it’s not impossible a heavy shower could develop, it’s more likely to remain".

Temperatures will dip on Thursday (June 27) thanks to a cold front and we will see cloudier and slightly breezier conditions through the day and possibly some light rain in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to peak at 21 degrees.

Friday through to Sunday are forecast to be mainly dry days with sunny spells and light winds. There is a chance of rain showers during the main part of the festival, but temperatures are expected to be around 20 to 22 degrees.

What is the official weather forecast for Glastonbury Festival?

Sharing its Glastonbury Festival outlook, a spokesman for Met Office said: "With lots of attention on Somerset as Glastonbury kicks off, the weather is likely to be mostly warm, dry and settled. On Wednesday we’re likely to see hotter temperatures of 25 ° C to 27 ° C in Somerset as the sunny weather continues and although it’s not impossible a heavy shower could develop, it’s more likely to remain dry.

"On Thursday as the cold front progresses south-eastwards, it will bring cloudier and slightly breezier conditions through the day and possibly some light rain in the afternoon.

"Friday through to Sunday are forecast to be dry days with sunny spells and light winds, although there is some uncertainty still and so the odd shower is possible. Temperatures throughout this period are to be around or slightly above average, with approximate maximum temperatures of 20 ° C to 22 ° C."

This year's festival goers can expect a thrilling start to their Glastonbury experience as the drone show is set to be a fresh addition, diverging from the usual opening act of fireworks which typically light up the sky around 11pm on Wednesday for those who arrive early.

The iconic hill by the Park Stage has traditionally been the prime spot for attendees to enjoy the spectacle.
