Festival-goers have descended on Somerset this week for the annual Glastonbury celebration.

The event will see Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Sir Elton John headline the Pyramid Stage when the music officially starts on Friday.

Thunderstorms were predicted to cause travel disruption as the first campers made their way towards the area on Tuesday, but the festival should avoid the worst of the weather and be mostly dry with sunshine.

This will mean visitors avoid the infamous Glastonbury mud and instead get to bask in the sun.

Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon said: “For people sleeping in tents, temperatures will remain in the mid-teens at night, so relatively warm.

“Be prepared for all weather types, with showers possible early in the week with warm weather taking over for the weekend.”
