There's room for everyone on Glen Powell's nice list!

The Anyone But You actor, 35, and his family got into the Christmas spirit recently as they donned matching costumes that mirrored the one Will Ferrell wears as the lovable Buddy in Elf.

"We're here in New York City for Anyone But You, and my family celebrates Christmas a little differently," said Powell in a video posted to his Instagram Wednesday before it cut to a montage of the group running around the Big Apple, recreating scenes from the 2003 holiday classic.

Among the memorable moments they paid homage to included a visit to Santa (only for Powell to tell him he smells like beef and cheese and that he sits on a throne of lies, of course), the elves' "four main food groups" (candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup), a ride in a revolving door, singing "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" in Central Park and more.

Powell even flawlessly recreated the scene where Buddy sees an escalator for the first time, doing a split to ride it up instead of walking or standing on a single step when he's not sure what to do.

At the end of the clip, Powell and his loved ones mimic the moment Buddy sees the department store Gimbels for the first time, gazing up at a billboard for Anyone But You and saying in starry-eyed unison, "Wow."

"It’s nice to be born into a family who shares my affinity for elf culture," Powell wrote in his caption, quoting one of Buddy's lines from the movie.

Among the comments from fellow celebs included one from Powell's former Scream Queens costar John Stamos, who joked, "Good man. I’m available to play Mrs. Claus next year."

"My god I love you and your family so much.⛄️🖤," wrote Aaron Paul, while Rachel Zegler chimed in with a simple, "I’m stressed."

"POWELLS!!!! ❤️😂," said Dermot Mulroney.

PEOPLE recently spoke to Elf cast members Zooey Deschanel and Mary Steenburgen for the Jon Favreau-directed comedy's 20th anniversary, where they talked about experiencing Ferrell, 56, as Buddy on set.

According to Steenburgen, 70, she, the late James Caan and even Ferrell would sometimes "ruin a take a little bit from laughing," because "the visual" of the latter in costume as Buddy "was constantly funny."

"You didn't really get used to it," the Academy Award winner said. "I think we're all used to it more now than any of us were then, because we'd never seen it on posters or on sides of buses or any of that. And so we did tend to just enjoy it so much."

Asked about her favorite moment from the set, Deschanel, 43, recalled to PEOPLE, "Laughing so hard I had to hide from the camera when Buddy is attacking the fake Santa Claus!"

As for Powell, he is gearing up to release his new romantic comedy Anyone But You alongside costar Sydney Sweeney. The two play Bea and Ben, who find themselves pretending to be a couple at a destination wedding in Australia despite their mutual disdain for one another.

Anyone But You is in theaters Friday.
