Glentoran boss Declan Devine blasted his team's performance as "shocking" after they crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Coleraine in the European play-offs.

The Glens produced another dire display, with two goals from Jamie McGonigle and a close-range strike from Lyndon Kane easing the Bannsiders to their win.

Devine's misery was compounded by Fuad Sule's dismissal in the second half after the midfielder picked up two bookings.

Kane's goal just about summed up Glentoran's night, with goalkeeper Aaron McCarey clattering into teammate Luke McCullough as they attempted to clear the ball, allowing Kane to nip in and bundle it home.

It brings Glentoran's miserable season to a conclusion, leaving new permanent manager Devine to pick up the pieces.

He told the BBC: "It was shocking. Terrible. There are a lot of things wrong, and they need fixed. I have known for a while, since I came here, that there were a lot of things wrong on the playing side of things.

"Zero identity tonight for the people of East Belfast. The Glentoran fans who are paying in. I am really disappointed. Not surprised, but really disappointed.

"The goals we gave away tonight are something you wouldn't see in school football, we shot ourselves in the foot.

"To go out with a whimper the way we did, it is very hard to take."

Meanwhile, a delighted Oran Kearney praised his Coleraine side after booking their place in Monday's play-off final. They will meet Crusaders to decide who gets into Europe next season.

"I thought at both ends of the pitch we were super," he said. "We have had a tough season, but our performances over the last eight to 10 weeks have been building towards this."

He added: "I'm not just pleased with the performance, but with the result.

"We have been involved in a few of these games that just maybe haven't gone our way and no matter what the performance level is like at this stage and probably on Monday again, it is about getting over the line and getting a result," he explained.

"We've done that with a really good performance too."
