Gogglebox: Fans react to the sad death of the Malone family's pet dog

Fans of Channel 4’s Gogglebox were left heartbroken, after it was announced that Frankie, the pet dog of the Malone family, had passed away.

One of the family to feature on the reality TV show, Shaun Malone, confirmed the sad news on Instagram to his followers.

‘After 11 years with the family it was so hard but best thing to do for him we’ve had to put my dog frank to sleep R.I.P frankie,’ he said.

The loveable pooch was a regular on the popular television show, and could often be spotted nestling on the sofa or curled up with owner Shaun.

Fans of the programme were quick to pay tribute to the liekable doggo, by tweeting their best wishes to the Malone family.

The family thanked everyone for their kind words of condolence.

‘Thank you so very much for all your kind words & thoughts,’ their tweet began.

‘It’s been a tough day but now trying to focus on all our good times with Frankie , there are such a lot !The thing is he was loved too much for us to let him suffer He will never be forgotten ,he will live on in our hearts’.

Frank was an RSPCA rescue puppy the Malones took home after falling in love with the dog.

’11 years ago my family got a dog frank from you and unfortunately he has had to be put to sleep today,’ he wrote.

‘Thank you for letting us have him.’
