Google issues new guidance for Android users who use camera 'starting today'

Android owners have been left thrilled over a new upgrade to millions of phones. Google, the US tech giant and global search engine function, has rollec out selection of free updates for Android phone owners and device users across the globe.

They add new artificial intelligence features, and even help you identify spam phone calls. As part of the new upgrades, it is possible to reverse-search mystery numbers from your Pixel phone's call log, as the tech giant rolls out Gemini Nano to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a.

Google explained: "Gemini Nano is Google’s most efficient AI model built for on-device tasks. And starting today, you can use Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a to access Gemini Nano as a developer option. You can enable developer options in your Pixel’s settings."

Google is also introducing the Summarize feature to serve up "more detailed and downloadable summaries." "It’s able to detect and include the names of speakers so conversational transcripts are improved," Google said as it detailed the shake-up.

"And with the ability to export transcripts into text files or Google Docs, keeping track of things like interviews and class lectures is made easy." Google is also letting users display content on bigger screens with Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro if they plug into a monitor via USB-C.

Other changes include Find My Device which lets you locate your phone if it's switched off and a new Pixel camera feature that automatically identifies "the best moment from your photo" if you have taken a burst using your camera.

You can now choose the exact lens that you want to use with makers saying you get "more control" for your snaps. On Twitter/X, as well as Reddit, fans have hailed the huge rollout of the free upgrades and changes to their smartphones this week.
