Great-grandmother left terrified after being hit by brick hurled through window in case of mistaken identity
A great-grandmother has been left terrified after a brick was hurled through her window, leaving her with horrifying injuries to her face.
The attack on Carol Gott at her home in the early hours of the morning is believed to be a case of mistaken identity.
But it has left the 76-year-old shaken and afraid to leave her house, her family said.
Carol was at home when she was lured to her bedroom window by sounds of a disturbance at around 1am before a missile was launched at her.
The great-grandmother was hit on the head, leaving her with a gash, two black eyes and severe bruising.

Her granddaughter Stephanie Baker told The Star she is now afraid to leave her house in Maltby, Rotherham.
She said: “She’s always been such a strong independent woman but now she doesn’t want to be alone and she’s afraid to go out.”
She said Ms Gott is believed to be a victim of mistaken identity and the incident came after a brick had been thrown through her living room window on a previous occasion.
They’re appealing anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact police.
