Grown-ish star Yara Shahidi was clearly just a little excited to find out that the show has been renewed for a second season.

In fact, the actress revealed that only one other moment in her life could ever compare to it.

"The only moment this equates to is when I met Frank Ocean and had no words to say. Like, this is more than that," she told ET Online at the Freeform Summit.

"This is tied to something that we're personally connected to and, like, it's just crazy to think that something that started as a conversation on the phone is now, like, a show and so there's so many levels to it.

"It gets progressively more surreal."

Grown-ish is a spin-off show following Black-ish character Zoey Johnson as she leaves the family home and heads off to college.

The first season began airing earlier this month and has seen Zoey struggle to keep up with her schoolwork while also enjoying her newfound freedom.

Shahidi has already come up with some ideas for storylines for the second season, saying that she wants to explore her character's new relationships in more depth.

"I think season two will really represent a time in which we get to know her friends a little more, and we get to establish her relationship with them a little more," she said.

"Also, I don't know if you can break a record of dating three guys in two weeks."

The actress has also revealed that her role has got her excited to go to college in real life, saying that she's getting a head-start by sneaking into classes.

"Yesterday I snuck into a UCLA African-American history class," she said. "It was really funny because I was live tweeting for the show, and taking notes on the reconstruction era."

"But Grown-ish has gotten me hyped for college because it's like, I'm aware of all the things that I didn't know were going to happen."

Grown-ish airs on Freeform in the US.
