Gwyneth Paltrow says her relationship with ex-husband Chris Martin is still very close and said the Coldplay frontman is "like my brother".

Paltrow and Martin split in 2014 with an infamous statement in which they popularised the term "conscious uncoupling" to describe their separation after a decade of marriage.

In an interview with the Today programme this week, the 48-year-old Oscar-winner said she has a very positive relationship with her ex.

"He's like my brother. You know, he's my family," Paltrow said.

"I love him. And I'm so grateful to him for giving me these kids. It worked out well, you know, it really did, I have to say."

Paltrow has often spoken with pride about how good a father Martin is to their children — 17-year-old daughter Apple and a 15-year-old son Moses.

She said: "He was over here yesterday. And [Apple] came through and she's like, you know, she's taller than me now.

"We just looked at each other. We were like: 'How did this go by so quickly?'"

Paltrow and Martin's divorce was finalised in 2016 and she began a relationship with Glee and American Horror Story TV producer Brad Falchuk, whom she married in 2018.

Paltrow has done less acting in recent years, turning her focus to her controversial wellness brand Goop and fronting its associated Netflix series The Goop Lab.

The brand caused a stir last year when it released a candle named "This Smells Like My Vagina", and a follow-up called "This Smells Like My Orgasm".

She still appears as Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most recently in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
