'Half-Dollar-Sized' Hail Hits Tennessee

A tornado watch was in effect for 15 counties in Tennessee as isolated severe storms moved across the region on Wednesday, May 8.

The storms were forecast to bring strong wind and “half-dollar-sized” hail to parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Footage taken by Paresh Patel shows hailstones hitting his backyard pool in Parsons, northeast of Memphis, on Wednesday afternoon.
