Half a million pounds found near Sefton Park after man spotted with no seatbelt

Police discovered half a million in cash and a kilo of suspected cocaine after stopping a driver for not wearing a seatbelt.

At around 8pm on Thursday June 20, police officers sighted a man driving in Mill Street in Dingle who was advised to stop due to reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. The man was searched and around £700 and suspected cocaine were confiscated.

He was detained and given a roadside drug test. Police then raided an address in Merebank, Sefton Park, discovering approximately £500,000 in cash and around a kilo of suspected cocaine, both of which were seized.

A 28-year-old man from Sefton Park was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of criminal property and drug driving. He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
