Who is Lily-Rose Depp? How Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis' daughter became a famous face in fashion

Lily-Rose Depp is quickly on her way to becoming a Hollywood superstar - of course, it helps that she already has a cool girl pedigree. Her parents are two famous faces, she splits her time between Paris and Los Angeles and she dated the Internet's crush, Timothee Chalamet.

She was born in 1999 to parents Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, who divorced after 14 years of marriage. Even her godfather is famous, albeit unexpected. It's shock rocker Marilyn Manson.

Recently, she became a surprise subject of her father Johnny and his ongoing libel trial against The Sun. On July 7, Johnny said in court that he had given his then-thirteen year old daughter cannabis after she said she wanted to try it - believing he was being a “responsible parent” by doing so.

Johnny recounted, “My daughter was at a party and someone passed the joint to her. She was just 12 and she said she didn’t know what to do. I said ‘listen sweetheart, if you are at a party and someone hands you the joint, take the joint from the person and pass it to the next person. Please don’t experiment with drugs with people you don’t know’.”

He continued that it had been a “safety issue” and worried that whatever Depp had been handed may have been laced with other drugs. He said he had urged her to “do me the honour of coming to me when you are ready, and you feel really ready”, adding that he wanted her first experience to be with people she knew and trusted.

“It’s a safety issue, it’s a father worried about his daughter in this kind of situation, when she came and said ‘we are ready’,” he said, adding that he didn’t want her going into “some sort of paranoid tailspin” and that he knew his own marijuana was “trustworthy and good quality.”

She's already following in her parent's larger-than-life footsteps. She and her mother are both multi-talented fashion muses, with Lily becoming the youngest ever Chanel ambassador in 2015.

And like her father, she's embracing acting, dropping out of high school to pursue it full time. "I also think the way that fashion ties into cinema is really interesting. To me, the hair and makeup and costume of a character are so crucial to me," she said about the way her two worlds converge.

She starred alongside her now-ex Chalamet in the hotly-anticipated movie The King, was in Dreamland opposite Gary Oldman and Evangeline Lilly and will be in the sci-fi thriller Voyagers alongside Colin Farrell.

"I’m such a homebody. I feel like this is the age that everyone is going out to clubs. I like to hang out with my friends and watch movies and cooking shows. I cook a lot," she said in an interview with CR Fashion Book.
