Tottenham legend names the only two clubs Harry Kane would sign for

Tottenham star Harry Kane joins the 100 club with century of Spurs goals

Former Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton says it would take an approach from Real Madrid or Barcelona to prise Harry Kane away from north London.

Spurs lost their first-choice right-back, Kyle Walker, this summer while Danny Rose has gone public with his own unrest and the likes of Eric Dier are reportedly open to leaving.

Rose said earlier in the summer that Kane is determined to become Spurs captain and break records with the club but Spurs legend Anderton feels Spain's top two could turn the striker's head.

"I think most players need to have competition to improve their game, but I don’t think Kane needs it," Anderton told sportingbet.com.

"He's young and hungry and I think the fact he went out on loan so often to lower league clubs when he was younger, it's really toughened him up – especially mentally as he's got so much belief in his ability and desire to be at the top. He's a dream for a manager as he's always got his foot on the pedal.

"Harry's the top man at the club and the one player they can't afford to lose. I think he loves the club and wouldn’t want to force a move, but if Real Madrid or Barcelona come knocking, he could go."

Mauricio Pochettino recently revealed he held talks with Alvaro Morata over moving to Spurs last summer only for the striker to question a possible role behind poster boy Kane.

Though being impressed by Heung-min Son, Anderton feels Pochettino needs more depth in attack - with Vincent Janssen struggling last season - and accepts a top forward will not play second fiddle to Kane.

He continued: "Son did a fantastic job last year when Kane was injured, banging in goals left right and centre and for me he really got Tottenham's season going.

"Tottenham need another top centre-forward in case Kane does get injured, but a £60/70 million player isn't going to come in and sit on the bench."
