Harvey Weinstein is set to surrender to authorities in New York on sex crime charges, according to reports.

Investigators from the Manhattan District Attorney's office and NYPD are preparing to arrest the disgraced film mogul on Friday after a probe into allegations that he sexually assaulted a number of women.

Weinstein is expected to face charges tomorrow morning, the New York Daily News and the New York Times reports.

Benjamin Brafman, a lawyer for Weinstein, declined to comment on Thursday's report to Reuters.

According to the Daily News, the Hollywood honcho is facing charges in connection to at least one accuser.

More than 70 women have accused the co-founder of the Miramax studio and The Weinstein Co with sexual misconduct including rape.

The allegations gave rise to the #MeToo movement in which hundreds of women have publicly accused powerful men in business, government and entertainment.

The producer is being investigated by police in London and the US over allegations of rape, sexual assault and harassment, all of which he denies.
