Heavy rain pelted the southern Jamaican coast as Hurricane Beryl slammed the island on Wednesday, July 3.

Footage filmed and posted to X by user @OKAMAI shows torrential rain and gusty wind in Kingston, Jamaica, on Wednesday. According to the National Hurricane Center, the eyewall of the Category 4 hurricane was brushing the south coast of Jamaica on Wednesday afternoon.

An evacuation order was in effect on Wednesday for areas prone to floods or landslides, or near sea level, gullies, or waterways, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced on Wednesday. Credit: @OKAMAI via Storyful

Jay Slater's family has hit back at a TikToker who quit the search for the missing teenager, saying: "We don't need hikers, we need experts."
