We need your help to celebrate D-Day's 80th aniversary!

This year marks 80 years since D-Day, and we want to share your memories, stories and photos of what this historic day meant for you.

June 6, 1944, saw the first day of a huge feat known as Operation Overload. D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare, bringing together land, sea and air.

The Allies, comprised of Britain, America, the Soviet Union and China, used over 5,000 ships and aircrafts to land more than 150,000 troops in Normandy. France had been occupied by Nazi Germany since 1940.

D-Day was a huge boost to the Allies. Some say it marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany, allowing the Allies to finally oust them from France later that year, with the war finally coming to an end in 1945.

To mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the East Anglian Daily Times will be producing a 16-page supplement.

We would like to hear from as many of you as possible. Perhaps you remember the day itself, and can tell us what it felt like to hear the news as it was reported.

Or maybe you had family members who were part of the landings, and you grew up hearing their stories.

Maybe you even have old photographs which were taken around the time of D-Day – we’d love to see them.
