The Christmas break is great and all, but it's not quite the same as jetting off to relax on the beach in an exotic destination somewhere, is it? And with the British winter showing no let up yet, our longing for sunshine is as strong as ever.

Which is why we couldn't help but share this brilliant offer from Tui that means you can jet off to the Barbados for £269 return, which is, quite-frankly, daylight robbery.

For under £300 you could be swimming in azure waters, tucking into that novel – the one you've been promising you'll get round too – from a hammock and just generally soaking up the rays.

All of Tui’s routes fly non-stop to the Caribbean in its fleet of modern 787 Dreamliners, which should make for a fairly comfortable flight even in economy. Checked bags are extra, costing £70 return, but if you pack cleverly then you could split the cost between two.

Flights from London Gatwick Airport are the cheapest, but for an extra £30 you can also fly from Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow.

If you do fancy a bit of a tropical trip then be quick, these fares are only available between late January and early February. Just visit Tui's website to book.

If you're after a bit of a break (we feel you) but feel Barbados is a bit far, then what about a cosy UK staycation at one of our favourite gastro pubs with rooms? We know it's not quite sun, sand and sea, but it is quintessentially British and a brilliant way to while away a weekend.
