The crew of a yacht just off the Queensferry coast became stuck on Wednesday evening (May 8) with a rescue team sent out.

The team of three found their vessel had become grounded in mud, and attempted to use the boats engine to move. Due to "strong tides" they were unable to sail away.

The incident was reported at around 7.40pm, near Hawes Pier. It's understood that a rescue team was dispatched shortly after.

Local resident Bruce Whitehead told us: "A yacht with three crew aboard has run aground off Queensferry near the Hawes Pier.

"The boat was among racing craft from Port Edgar when she was left behind having grounded in the mud. The crew attempted to sail away using the boat’s engine, but with a strong falling tide they were unable to move her.
