High Winds Lash Lake Charles as Hurricane Delta Continues Approach

As Hurricane Delta continued making its approach toward the Louisiana coast, heavy winds and rain lashed Lake Charles on October 9.

The National Hurricane Center warned that by early Friday, storm preparations needed to be finished before it became “dangerous or impossible to complete” them due to tropical-storm-force winds. The storm was expected to make landfall by Friday evening, bringing storm surges, hurricane-force winds, and significant flash flooding.

This footage, taken from a home-surveillance camera owned by Jordan Williams, shows the conditions in Lake Charles.

“Moved from my studio last night to a friend’s house since the roof had damage from Hurricane Laura. I prepped it the best that I could. My dog evacuated yesterday to Texas with family members,” Williams wrote on Instagram. Credit: Jordan Williams via Storyful
