Holby City newcomer Kian Madani has caused some serious trouble after clashing with Jac Naylor and challenging her professional status.

Kian, portrayed by West End and Broadway star Ramin Karimloo, made his debut appearance on tonight's episode (April 23) as the dynamic and talented new surgeon who happens to be an "old medical school nemesis" of Jac's (Rosie Marcel).

He surprised everyone at Holby when he arrived with an unconscious man on his shoulders, after already being late for his first day at work, and his arrival has set the tone for some major fireworks between him and Jac.

With no proper explanation about the unconscious man, Kian started performing an emergency surgery right in the middle of Darwin Ward.

Jac immediately knew that she had some trouble on her hands and was desperate to find out the truth about Kian's patient.

However, Kian's attitude and his reluctance to follow Jac's orders led to a serious clash between the two surgeons.

In addition, everyone else at Darwin instantly showed a cautious distrust over Kian's behaviour and his unwillingness to reveal details about the suspicious patient.

Still, viewers weren't so bothered by Kian's mysterious behaviour – they were more interested in him as a confident and charismatic consultant.

At the end of the episode, Jac decided to give Kian a chance, after receiving some answers about last night, and let him stay at Darwin. But can Jac really trust Kian?

Prior to his debut appearance, Ramin teased whether Kian's attitude will cause problems with Jac further down the line, telling Digital Spy: "Yeah, he's not scared of her. They will clash like any two great artists would, especially when they don't know much about each other.

"I think Kian keeps his cards close to his chest as well. He's there to be a great surgeon, before someone's friend."

Holby City airs on Tuesday nights at 8pm on BBC One.
