This Morning's Holly Willoughby has explained why she sometimes makes mistakes live on-air, saying that her dyslexia is the reason "most of the time".

The fan-favourite presenter revealed that she's "struggled with dyslexia" since she was at school, but that she doesn't feel as affected by the learning difficulty as she once did because she doesn't "let it have power".

Opening up about her experience of dyslexia, Holly told Red that she used to be "terrified" of reading aloud when she was younger.

"I've struggled with dyslexia since I was young and it used to hold me back. At school, reading out loud absolutely terrified me because I'd get all the words wrong and I was convinced everybody thought I was stupid," she explained.

Referencing the occasional on-air blips or stumbles she's made, Holly admitted: "It still happens now – most of the mistakes I make on This Morning are because of it, but it doesn't do what it did to me back then because I don’t let it have power.

"I now know that it's all about how you package it in your head.

Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can affect people's ability to read and write. According to NHS UK, it's estimated that up to 1 in 10 people have some degree of dyslexia.

A person with dyslexia may sometimes confuse the order of letters in words, struggle to spell correctly, or have trouble following a sequence of directions.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
