Hollyoaks’ Emmett J. Scanlan and Claire Cooper announce birth of second child

Former Hollyoaks stars Emmett J. Scanlan and Claire Cooper have revealed that they have become parents for a second time after welcoming a baby girl.

The couple, who married in 2015 after meeting on the set of the Cheshire-based Channel 4 soap, are already parents to a two-year-old boy called Ocean-Torin.

Proud dad Scanlan revealed the happy news on Twitter, along with a sweet first look at the newborn. He wrote: “3 days ago we met her…. #ScanClan.”

“Welcome Home baby.”

He also confirmed in a separate post that their daughter, Fiáin-Luna Scanlan, was born on Saturday, November 12.

Their former Hollyoaks castmates were quick to offer their congratulations and well-wishes, including Kieron Richardson who plays Ste Hay.

He said: “Amazing news congratulations to you all and welcome to the world.”

Bronagh Waugh, who played Scanlan’s on-screen sister Cheryl Brady, was equally excited, writing: “HUGE congratulations!!!! Big BIG love to you & @claire_e_cooper,” followed by four green heart emojis.

Cooper played the role of mouthy Jacqui McQueen on Hollyoaks, while Scanlan portrayed villain Brendan Brady. They both left the show in 2013.

Since leaving the soap, Scanlan has appeared in a number of TV shows, including The Fall, In The Flesh, Constantine, Peaky Blinders, Gangs of London and Derry Girls. He also made a brief appearance in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

The news of their new arrival comes only three years after they sadly lost a baby.

Opening up about the heart-breaking loss on Instagram, Scanlan said: “July of last year we lost our baby and in the process my wife was left fighting for her life. Exactly 12 months later and after 40 hours of labour with an emergency C-Section, Ocean-Torin was born.”
