Hollyoaks newcomer Imran Maalik makes a shocking discovery next week, sparking some emotional scenes for his family.
Troubling times for the Maalik clan begin when Imran starts making plans to commemorate the birthday of his late father – an idea which is mysteriously opposed by his mum Misbah.
In the end, Misbah reluctantly agrees to a small celebration, but she warns her stepson Sami that Imran can never know what really happened to their father.
Determined to do his dad proud, Imran pulls out all the stops for the bittersweet occasion, but he can't help wondering why his mum is being so secretive.
When Imran stumbles across a letter that Misbah has kept hidden from him and his sister Yasmine, the full heartbreaking truth finally comes out.
We're sworn to secrecy on exactly what's revealed, but once the truth is out, it's not too difficult to see why Misbah was so keen to keep it from Imran and Yasmine. Where do the family go from here?
Speaking about what happened to the Maalik family dad before he died, Rishi Nair – who plays Sami – told Inside Soap this week: "We know that he went down for embezzling his company. Sami believes that he wasn't guilty, and Misbah believes he was, so that creates friction.
"Yasmine and Imran don't know anything about this, but Imran makes a big discovery this week and that leads to a very emotionally heavy scene for the whole family."
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
