Huge £400K cannabis grow found in Tamworth town centre building

A huge cannabis grow of more than 400 plants has been found in an empty Tamworth town centre building. Police and National Grid were seen at the site in Church Street yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, July 2.

They have since confirmed the find and that four people have been arrested in connection with their investigation.

Staffordshire Police confirmed: "On Tuesday, July 2, at around 1.50am, we were called to Church Street, Tamworth following reports of a large group causing damage to the front of a property.

"The large group had made off just prior to police's arrival, heading off on foot towards St Johns Street via Aldergate. They then fled in three vehicles.

"The damaged property was known to have been vacant for some time and attending officers discovered the building was being used to cultivate cannabis. Over 400 plants were seized from within.

"A vehicle linked to the incident was later stopped by West Midlands Police (WMP) and the three male occupants were arrested. A fourth male was also later located and arrested by WMP.
