Loose Women viewers were left stunned during Friday’s, April 19 episode when noughties pop legend Daniel Bedingfield appeared on the show. The New Zealand-British singer is known for songs including Gotta Get thru This, If You're Not the One and Never Gonna Leave Your Side, and they sold 1.6m copies in the UK.

In recent years Daniel has stepped away from music but in January he announced that he’d be going on tour in the UK. He chatted about why he returned to the scene with Kaye Adams, Judi Love, Olivia Attwood and Nadia Sawahla.

When asked how he felt to be back on tour, Daniel said: “It's lovely. My band is unbelievable. I cried about five times in the rehearsal.”

As to where he’s been for the last couple of years, Daniel explained: “I've been living life. I did the pop star thing from nine years old till 24. I really was very focused, then I had a car crash and I suddenly realised the first memory when I woke up is, I'd like to try something very different.

“[I've] done farming. Homesteading, like chickens and bees and fruit trees and food forests and ecological stuff.” He then joked that he went to the “one place where no one cares about you”: Los Angeles.

The 44-year-old, who almost died in the 2004 car crash in New Zealand that saw him take a break from music, added: “I realised that this concept of manifestation where you dream it. I had this chat with that entity, whoever God is or universe, and the voice I got was, if you keep manifesting what you know, you're just going to keep living what you've had – so I reset completely. I moved to a wildly different culture, LA, and completely reimagined what I wanted for my life.”

Following his appearance viewers took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts with one person writing: “Noughties sensation, Daniel Bedingfield, back on stage after 20 years. Saluted. Beautiful music. Xx” A second added: “Weeeey Daniel Bedingfield.”

Aside from his music work, Daniel also appeared on The X Factor New Zealand in 2013. He has written songs for other artists and has acted in the West End theatre in London.
