Ozan Tufan has played his last game for Hull City and will move to Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor after the two clubs agreed a deal on Friday afternoon.

Tufan, the former Turkish international, has agreed a three-year deal at Papara Park with the option of a fourth and will end his two-year stay in East Yorkshire with Trabzonspor understood to be paying around 2m euros.

City were loathed to lose the 29-year-old who had one year plus an option on his existing contract, Hull Live understands, but Tufan expressed his desire to move back to Turkey and sign a deal with the former Super Lig champions, who finished third in the table last term behind champions Galatasaray and his former club, Fenerbahce.

The mercurial talent joined City in a deal worth around £4m from Istanbul giants Fenerbahce in July 2022 and became one of Acun Ilicali's high-profile signings following his takeover earlier that year, quickly banishing the memories of his disappointing spell in the Premier League with Watford.

Tufan quickly became a hugely popular figure on the terraces at the MKM Stadium, playing 42 times in his first season at City, scoring eight goals and clocking up one assist, with his brace in the terrific 4-4 draw at Sunderland a particular highlight.

His first career hat-trick was secured early last term when he bagged three in a 4-2 thrashing of rivals Sheffield Wednesday and what proved to be his last strike came in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town in the final home outing of the season, and ultimately, his final MKM Stadium outing.

In total, Tufan played 84 times for the Tigers across his two full seasons in the Championship, scoring 18 times with two assists, but will now wear the colours of Trabzonspor, his fourth Turkish club.

He becomes the second City player to leave this week, following goalkeeper Ryan Allsop out of the MKM Stadium ahead of the Tigers' return to pre-season training on Monday week, though it's understood the club are continuing to work behind the scenes on new arrivals and progress is being made in bolstering Tim Walter's squad.
