Hull City are expected to confirm their final domestic friendlies before the end of the week, with the Championship Tigers set to face Premier League opposition.

City have been in talks with Newcastle United for the last couple of weeks with a view to playing the game at the MKM Stadium in late July, the first of two home outings this summer, in what would be an eye-catching clash and one certain to see a big away following from the North East descend on East Yorkshire, sources on Tyneside have told Hull Live.

Eddie Howe's men will be the first Toon side to visit the MKM Stadium since the pair shared a 2-2 draw in a friendly back in July 2018, and will face City before heading off to Japan for the J.League International Series where they'll take on Urawa Red Diamonds and then Yokohama F. Marinos.

The Tigers are also hoping to add a second friendly against top European opposition and in doing so, would complete their domestic schedule ahead of the Championship campaign which gets underway on August 10.

Those two home friendlies will be in addition to the two away ties which have already been scheduled, with City heading to near neighbours Doncaster Rovers on July 23 and then the long trek to Reading on August 3, the weekend before the big Championship kick-off.

City will also play two showpiece friendlies during their 10-day warm weather training camp at the Turkish Football Association's Riva headquarters, the location they used 12 months ago.

Tim Walter, his players and staff along with the Tigers' Under-18s and Under-21s squads will depart Humberside Airport on July 10 and return to England on July 20, ahead of their latest reunion with former boss Grant McCann.

Meanwhile, the club continue to work on plans to take a number of supporters out to Turkey for a period during the players' trip with details expected to be announced shortly.
