Hundreds of enthusiasts set to descend on Moffat Classic Car Rally

Moffat Classic Car Rally is being held this weekend in the Upper Annandale town.

Around 600 enthusiasts from across the Scotland and the rest of the UK and Ireland are bringing their classic and vintage cars, motorcycles and vans for the occasion with hundreds more spectators expected.

There will be a parade of around 250 and a run tomorrow with all vehicles assembling at 10am at Hammerlands showfield (opposite Moffat Academy and Primary) before being sent of in waves from the High Street at noon.

They follow a 40 mile scenic route via Tweedsmuir, Meggat reservoir, St Mary’s Loch and Grey Mare’s Tail to return to Moffat on the A708.
Sunday is open day for the public from 8.30am to 4pm.

The showfield will be open to visitors with a spectacular display of classic cars and motorcycles, prizegiving, autojumble stalls, kids fun rides and refreshments to help raise funds for nominated charity the Moffat branch of the Macmillan Cancer Support Group.

Highlights for vehicle enthusiasts include a 1917 `T` model Ford, James Bond-style Aston Martins, E-Type Jaguars, Austin 7 specials and 35 classic motorcycles including a 1000cc V-twin Vincent Rapide.
