Hundreds line up to get 'worker bee' tattoos to raise money for Manchester attack victims

Queues have formed outside tattoo parlours in and around Manchester, as people request tattoos of the city's unofficial symbol of the bee to raise money for the families of the Manchester attack's victims.

Eyewitness Nicola Cooke captured video of dozens of people queuing outside the Holier Than Thou tattoo parlour in central Manchester on Friday (May 26).

Alchemy Tattoo Studio in Wigan, 16 miles (27km) west of Manchester, said on Thursday (May 25) it had raised more than £5000 ($6,405) from the tattoos.

A dedicated fundraising page for the tattoo funds had reached more than £16,000 ($20,496) on Friday.

According to local newspaper the Manchester Evening News, the bee symbolises Manchester's hardworking and industrial past.

On Monday (May 22) a suicide bomber detonated a bomb at a concert at Manchester Arena, killing 22 people.

Britain's threat level remained at its highest level of "critical" on Friday, meaning an attack is expected imminently.
