Hurrah! Peggy Mitchell Will Be Back On The Square Soon!

We know that Peggy Mitchell’s (AKA Dame Barbara Windsor) comeback to Walford is going to be her last. So it’s only fitting that EastEnders’ First Lady should arrive home in style.

These new pics show Peggy taking a trip around Albert Square on a MILK FLOAT, before being reunited with the rest of her family.

Babs, 78, has returned to the award winning soap one last time as Peggy will join Pat and Frank Butcher in the big pub in the sky, when she’s killed off later this year.

The cancer she so bravely fought previously, has returned and now Peggy is terminally ill.

On her return she is greeted by Phil (who hopefully is a bit more affected by his mum’s condition than he was last time he saw her), Ronnie and her grandchildren, Louise and Ben.

She’ll also be delighted to see Billy and Honey have reunited, along with their kids William and Janet.

And we’re preparing ourselves for the Mitchell reunion of DREAMS when Ross Kemp and Danniella Westbrook reprise their roles as Grant and Sam in the near future too.

Speaking in January about the decision to kill Peggy off, Barbara said: “Everyone knows I love EastEnders and that will never change.

“Peggy is a character close to my heart but I made the decision a while ago that I need to say goodbye to Peggy once and for all as otherwise she will always be there, urging me to go back and that is something I need to shut the door on.

“After thinking long and hard about it, I realised that it is time for me and the audience to say our final farewells to the lady who I have loved for many years and I thought that whilst the guvnor, who I adore, is still in charge I want him to be the one to oversee it.

“I am grateful that Dominic has accepted my decision and together, since late last summer, we have been secretly plotting Peggy’s last scenes.”

Peggy will be back on screen from Monday May 9th.
