London to Edinburgh in 45 minutes: New Hyperloop train shortlisted for UK
A train that connects London to Edinburgh in just 45 minutes is closer to becoming a reality after being shortlisted for Elon’s Musk’s Hyperloop One project.
The Tesla and Paypal-founding tech entrepreneur plans to put 760mph trains on superfast rail systems.
The link between the English and Scottish capitals is among 35 proposed routes, whittled down from a total of 2,600.
The trains would also make London to Manchester an 18-minute journey — that is, quicker than flying.
Submission had to be approved by governments, which would regulate and perhaps fund the railway lines.

Sydney to Melbourne, Shanghai to Hangzhou and Mumbai to Delhi are also on the shortlist.
The start-up has so far raised more than $160 million.
But this is not rail travel as we know it: pods would rocket along rails through tubes at speeds of 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) per hour.
The company is backed by three co-founders — Shervin Pishevar, Robert Lloyd and Josh Giegel.
