'We are immensely proud': Blackburn school wins at National Theatre Awards

Students from a school in Blackburn attended the National School Theatre Awards earlier this week, with one pupil winning 'Best Supporting Actress'.

On Monday, June 24, pupils from Westholme School attended the National School Theatre Awards at the Shaw Theatres in London.

Theatre patrons announced awards to the top performing schools in the country, with Westholme School proudcing finalists for Best Musical Production for their Spring production of Les Misérables.

Students Grace, Bill, Emi and Lily were all nominated for their individual performances in Les Miserables, with Lily winning Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Gavroche.

A spokesperson for Westholme School said: "An incredible evening at the National School Theatre Awards at the Shaw Theatres in London.

"With a star-studded line-up of theatre patrons announcing awards to the top performing schools in the country, Westholme School walked the red carpet as deserved finalists for Best Musical Production, for our Spring production of Les Misérables.

"It was a magical evening, showcasing some incredible talent, and we are proud to be recognised alongside the performing elite.

"We are immensely proud of Grace, Bill, Emi and Lily, who were all finalists for their individual performances in Les Miserables.

"The nominations for each individual, and for the whole production, are a true testament to the creative talents of the whole ensemble, the Performing Arts team led by Mrs Holland, and every individual at Westholme who contributed to the success of the show.

"A special congratulations to Lily, who won Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Gavroche. A much deserved award for a very talented young actress."
