Injured Morgan Set To Miss Six Nations

England No 8 Ben Morgan is set to miss the Six Nations after his club Gloucester confirmed he suffered a fracture to his lower left leg in Friday's Premiership defeat of Saracens.

Morgan has undergone surgery after suffering the injury in the second half at Kingsholm.

While no time frame for his return has been given by his club, he is unlikely to play any part for Stuart Lancaster's side in the championship.

A Gloucester statement read: "Morgan has suffered a fracture to his lower left leg and had surgery performed on Saturday morning. He will commence an appropriate rehabilitation programme for this type of injury over the coming weeks."

Morgan, 25, was one of England's stand-out performers in the recent autumn series, with his ball-carrying proving a key asset as he displaced Billy Vunipola to become first-choice No 8 in scoring two tries against Australia and one against South Africa.

Saracens' Vunipola is now likely to start in place of Morgan for the 2015 Six Nations Championship opener against Wales in Cardiff on Friday, 6 February.
