Family members have been left 'unable to sleep' following a horror crash in Bedworth. The mother and daughter, and her niece were all left injured following the incident in School Lane.

They spent hours being treated at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire after a car allegedly crashed head on into theirs on Saturday night. The husband of the female driver, who did not want to be named, explained that the injuries his wife, daughter and niece suffered were more serious than first thought.

"These were not minor injuries," he said. "My daughter has got to have an operation on her arm because it’s snapped and needs pins and plates.

"My niece has huge bruising and so has my wife. They are struggling to sleep at night because of it." He added that the family car has been 'totally destroyed'.

Images taken in the wake of the incident on Saturday night show the front of the car caved in. "Our car is totally destroyed, we have loss of earnings and much more," he added.

Warwickshire Police previously confirmed a 17-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A force spokesperson has confirmed that he is yet to be questioned. But a witness appeal continues.

"Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage can go online or call 101 quoting the incident number 375 of June 29," the spokesperson explained. "Alternatively, people can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
