A mum from Chorley, described as having "a heart of gold", sadly passed away eight days after being discharged from the hospital.

Sally Ann Hall was admitted to hospital on April 20 last year after she took an overdose but was later discharged. But just over a week later, she was rushed to hospital again on April 28, where she tragically died.

This week, an inquest into the 46-year-old's death was held at Preston Coroner's Court. The court was told that medical staff managed initially to revive Sally. However, she collapsed again, and died due to mixed drug toxicity, cardiac arrest and left ventricular hypertrophy, reports Lancs Live.

In her conclusion of the inquest, Assistant Coroner Laura Fox stated: "Sally Ann Hall died on the 28th April 2023 at the Royal Preston Hospital.

"She died from the combined effects of mixed drug toxicity and a cardiac arrest, contributed to by left ventricular hypertrophy, from which she did not recover."

Following her mum's tragic passing, Sally's daughter Cordelia initiated a fundraiser to afford her mother "the best send-off". On the GoFundMe page, which raised £2,740, Cordelia wrote: "Despite her struggles, Sally inspired an incredible number of people in her life, finding much strength and hope through recovery."

"My mum always supported others, so now I'm asking for your support to enable me, Brandon and all those who love her to be able to give Sally the correct goodbyes."

"Anything will be greatly appreciated and it would mean the world to be given the opportunity to say our last goodbyes to our mum."

Meghan Topping posted: "Sally you were a beautiful soul and you really were a light in many lives. I know you'll be resting in peace now with all the angels."

Isaac Johnson added: "Beautiful woman with a heart of gold and a smile that brightened up the room. RIP Sally you will be missed."
