Yahoo News Iqbal Theba To Produce & Star In Indie ‘Days With Dandekar’
EXCLUSIVE: Iqbal Theba (Green Book) will produce and star in Days with Dandekar, a new indie written and directed by Emmy nominee Leena Pendharkar (Hello, Jack!).
The project marks Theba’s first producing credit and his second collaboration with sister producers Pallavi & Keertana Sastry, on the heels of the drama Land of Gold, which premiered at Tribeca in 2022.

The film tells the story of a man named Dandekar (Theba), who, after getting laid off from his job of over 35 years, goes on an existential journey, searching for the beloved ’87 Volvo that his well-intended family has traded away. On the way, he connects with longtime neighbors and strangers alike, who help him define a sense of himself.
Script for Days with Dandekar was selected for the Film Independent Screenwriting Lab and Tribeca All Access. The creative team is coming off of a live reading of the script, co-hosted by CAPE and with support from Tribeca Film Institute.
In addition to Theba and the Sastrys, Jane Kelly Kosek (20 Weeks, Take Me Home) will produce. Production will kick off in Tulsa, OK in Q1 2025.
Best known for his SAG Award-winning role of Principle Figgins on Glee as well as the Best Picture winner Green Book, Theba has appeared in more than 100 film and TV projects over the course of his decades-long career. Other notable credits include The Illegal, Playing for Keeps and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, along with such series as Mira, Royal Detective, Messiah, Community and The Blacklist.
Up next, Theba will be seen starring alongside Holly Hunter, Mark Duplass, and Sylvia Hoeks in the Anna Nicole Smith biopic Hurricanna. The actor repped by Stagecoach Entertainment.
Nominated for a Children’s & Emmy for her work on Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show, Pendharkar’s also previously helmed features including A Date with Deception and 20 Weeks. She is repped by World Builder Entertainment, Kaplan-Stahler Agency, and Ramo Law.
