A COUPLE who own two cars damaged when a van crashed into them, parked in a residential street of an Isle of Wight town, is appealing for help to catch the culprit.

Charlotte Hornblow, a resident of the Broadway, Sandown, posted damage to a Ford B-Max hatchback, a Renualt Clio and possibly to a Ford Transit van, on the Sandown HUB community Facebook page this morning (Saturday).

It appears a vehicle struck the Ford car, which in turn shunted into the other parked vehicles, during the early hours of this morning.

Police confirmed it when they said they were called at around 6am today (June 22), to report a white Iveco van had collided with two parked cars and, that the driver of the van had left the scene.

An anonymous witness to the crash, who posted on Sandown HUB, wrote: "Car has gone into the back of a parked car on the Broadway at the bottom.

"It's pushed it into at least two other cars and has sped off at 4.30am — massive bang. It wasn't a slow hit."

The witness also said he/she was unable to report the incident to the police on via its 101 hotline and, there was an error on its 'online reporting' service.

Mrs Hornblow wrote: "Overnight, both of our cars were involved in a 'hit and run' on Broadway, Sandown.

"If anyone has dash cam, Ring doorbell video or CCTV that may help us, please do get in touch.

"The power of the community must be able to help us."

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary ask that anyone with information about the collision, or the driver of the van, should get in touch with them, quoting the reference 431 of today's date.
