ITV star Ben Shephard signs up to BBC Sounds football podcast with Chris Kamara

Good Morning Britain star Ben Shephard is joining rival broadcaster BBC for a new football podcast with Chris Kamara.

The TV presenter is usually seen reading ITV's breakfast news alongside Kate Garraway and fronting ITV gameshow Tipping Point, but now he has signed up to a new BBC Sounds podcast with football reporter and pundit Kamara.

Unbelievable has been commissioned by 5 Live and is billed as "a blockbuster, weekly feel-good football conversation telling the most amazing stories in the game", with big-name guests from the worlds of football and entertainment.

Former footballer Kamara, who has worked for both BBC and ITV, said: "This is a dream transfer and I can’t wait to tell you more about my new BBC podcast later this summer. Expect top guests, unbelievable stories and plenty of laughs as Ben and I delve into the footballing world."

Shephard and Kamara's show isn't the only football-themed podcast to be announced - BBC Sounds has also unveiled plans for Moment of Truth, a podcast narrated by Cold Feet star James Nesbitt which features football managers Paul Warne (Rotherham United) and Karl Robinson (Oxford United) whose teams are both fighting for promotion.

Also announced in the new slate of BBC Sounds podcast is singer Sam Smith presenting A Positive Life: HIV from Terrence Higgins to Today, an eight-part series exploring Higgins' life and how the repercussions of an HIV diagnosis differ now from the 80s and 90s.

Emily Maitlis is set to host Radio 4 podcast and series The People vs J. Edgar Hoover which looks at former FBI director Hoover's legacy and whether he laid the path for distrust in government.

Another Radio 4 podcast, Welcome to the Neighbourhood, sees comedian Jayde Adams explore the world of neighbour clashes through street rows and WhatsApp group disagreements, all submitted by listeners.

Joining the newly-announced shows are returning podcasts with Joe Wicks, Michelle Visage and Paris Lees, as well as the award-winning Brown Girls Do It Too with Poppy and Rubina.

More details on Unbelievable with Shephard and Kamara are due to be announced this summer.
