Britain's Got Talent fans are outraged after it was uncovered that a golden buzzer act has previously appeared on another TV programme and worked with a well-known pop star. Over the weekend the much-loved talent show continued, providing acts from all over the UK with a stage to flaunt their skills. The winner will take home a £250,000 and appear at this year's Royal Variety Performance.

In the auditions a powerhouse of vocals by 39-year-old Taryn Charles delivered during her rendition of (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin, ensuring she bagged a guaranteed position in the live shows and leaving audiences smitten. Following her performance, which was met with a standing ovation and tears, judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon heaped praise on her.

The fate-shifting moment of the evening arrived when Bruno made the decision to hit his golden buzzer transferring Taryn directly into the live semi-finals. Apart from captivating the country with her singing prowess, Taryn also provides specialist care as an educator for children with specific needs, using music to help her students. She revealed during her audition that her intention to sign up to Britain's Got Talent was to bring happiness, saying she aimed to "make people smile", reports the Mirror.

Despite the huge reaction to her performance, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to recognise Taryn from another ITV singing programme - Starstruck, hosted by Olly Murs, which gives artists the opportunity to impersonate their musical heroes. Not everyone appreciated her participation in BGT, considering she has performed elsewhere. One unhappy fan said: "Taryn Charles is already a professional singer, so you would expect her to have a good voice. Not fair on all the amateurs."

Another viewer recalled: "I remember Taryn from Starstruck #BGT." The sentiment was echoed by a third commentator: "Yet again another professional singer? ? Taryn Charles. What has happened to #BGT?"

In contrast, judges and viewers alike were amazed by the performance of Abigail, aged seven, and Afronitaaa, aged 20, even going so far as to name it 'the best audition yet. ' Amanda Holden said: "You are two of the most fantastic dancers we have ever had on Britain's Got Talent."

It did not go unnoticed, however, that the pair missed out on the golden buzzer. Some fans took to Twitter to share their disbelief, as one said: "@antanddec should've broken the rules and pushed the golden buzzer a second time for Abigail. THAT is what that buzzer is for! #BGT #BritainsGotTalent". Another added: "That last act was amazing.. really deserved a golden buzzer #BGT", furthered by one fan who said: "No golden buzzer? How? #BGT." You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
