ITV The Chase's Mark Labbett shares 'secret' of relationship with girlfriend Hayley Palmer

ITV The Chase star Mark Labbett has shared the "secret" to a happy relationship after marking his one-year anniversary with girlfriend Hayley Palmer. The television star, who is known as The Beast on the popular game show, appeared on Loose Women alongside Hayley as the pair celebrated their first year together.

Presenter Charlene White said to Mark: "People are very excited by your love story, does it feel like a long year or like time has flown past?" Mark went to reply but was hilariously interrupted by Hayley who warned: "Say the right answer!" to which Mark quipped: "The secret to a happy relationship? Yes dear!"

Mark continued: "Because we live quite a bit apart, obviously I live up by Sheffield and she's a Chelsea girl, we tend to look at our diaries and when we can sync up together. The good news is we see each other every few weeks but we make the most of it when we're together, so you get the best of both worlds."

Before Hayley added: "We get excited when we see each other, which is really nice." The couple also talked about their anniversary plans, as Hayley said: "It might be quite sad to some people but to us, it’s really special."

"We are going back to the bench. We sat on this bench a year ago, and I think it is kind of where we both thought actually this could be something."

Mark, who has been on The Chase for over a decade, also spoke about his future on the show. He said: ""I've been doing it for 15 years now, we've got a 15th anniversary special which will be shown later on this summer. Shaun [Wallace] and I have been there since the start, and Bradley [Walsh]."
