Coronation Street enthusiasts are left in suspense as the truth about Lauren Bolton's disappearance is about to unfold.

The teenager has been missing for several weeks, and what started as a missing person's case has now escalated into a murder investigation. Lauren was last seen in Weatherfield on February 23 after being dismissed from her job at Roy's Rolls by Roy himself.

The cafe proprietor later visited her with her wages and some additional money to help her out. However, shortly afterwards, an unknown individual paid a visit to her home, who viewers did not get to see.

Consequently, she hasn't been seen alive since then, and it was her new romantic interest, Bobby, Carla Connor's nephew, who discovered her flat unlocked and eerily vacant.

Although Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police, it wasn't until Sean Tully viewed the flat and noticed blood on the curtains that the investigation into her disappearance truly began. When the blood was confirmed to be Lauren's, the missing person case turned into a murder inquiry, reports Manchester Evening News.

In a thrilling new trailer from ITV, Coronation Street enthusiasts are given a glimpse into the drama-filled week ahead. The soap will be aired across five nights starting Monday next week, with the first four episodes each focusing on the same day but from different characters' perspectives.

Viewers will see Sarah striving to protect her daughter Bethany from her malevolent ex-abuser Nathan, who has resurfaced. As Bethany contemplates leaving Weatherfield, Sarah is resolved to expose Nathan as the culprit behind Lauren's disappearance, regardless of the risks involved.

Simultaneously, Carla and Bobby find themselves accused of obstructing justice as they frantically attempt to vindicate Roy. However, DS Swain also has Nathan in her crosshairs, and the evidence against him is piling up.

Will the police finally apprehend their suspect, or does this enigma have more layers than initially thought? In another storyline, Dee-dee battles for justice for Roy while far-right activist Griff returns to Weatherfield prison where Roy is being held on remand, accused of Lauren's murder. Intent on settling old scores and seeking revenge, Griff takes it upon himself to extract a confession from Roy.

Convinced Roy is Lauren's murderer, Griff is out for vengeance, and it soon becomes apparent Roy is in serious danger. Roy's life is precariously poised as an unexpected piece of evidence emerges, promising a twist that will stun viewers. As the week concludes, Friday's episode heralds a new morning while the enigma surrounding Lauren's destiny further unfolds.

Coronation Street enthusiasts are expressing concern for Roy after a significant hint was noticed in the latest trailer. One fan tweeted: "Wait this is the same song Roy played for Hayley when she died... please nooooo."

Yet, fans have concocted a fresh theory involving an improbable suspect seen in the trailer with a necklace identical to Lauren's. Another speculated: "I've just thought. That's Hope with a necklace the same as Lauren's. Wasn't she chatting online some time ago to someone? ? ? ? ? " as someone else concurred: "Omg hope got necklace from Lauren."

Another fan declared: "I'm calling it! Hope Stape killed Lauren! #Corrie."

Coronation Street is shown on ITV1 at 8pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
