Coronation Street actor Sam Aston and his wife Briony have joyfully announced the arrival of their third child, following a tragic loss.

The 30-year-old soap star, who is already father to Sonny, three, and Daisy, two, has now welcomed another baby girl into the family. The couple shared their happy news on Instagram, posting: "Welcome to the world...Hazel Marie Aston. 07.05.24 8lbs 15oz."

Sam and Briony also gave fans a glimpse into Hazel's birth, sharing intimate photos including one of Briony's water birth in a large pool. Another touching image showed Daisy and Sonny holding a candle towards the umbilical cord and placenta as they greeted their new sister.

Fans were further delighted by an adorable family photo featuring all five members, with Sam and Briony beaming at the camera while cuddling their three children.

Last year, Sam excitedly revealed to fans: "It's a girl". He explained that he and Briony had discovered their baby's gender through a blood test as they couldn't wait to find out, reports the Mirror.

The couple also courageously disclosed that they were initially expecting twins but tragically lost one due to 'Vanishing Twin Syndrome'. "It was very bittersweet, that's exactly how I'd word it," said Briony, who had previously spoken about experiencing two miscarriages after Daisy's birth.

"We were excited and thankful because we always wanted a baby that was healthy," said the couple, who also admitted to wondering about what could have been while expressing gratitude for their current situation.

Coronation Street's Chesney Brown actor Sam Aston revealed his shock upon discovering they were expecting twins.

"At first, you're thinking, 'What would it have been like to have twins? Would we have had one of each, a boy and a girl? ' Like Briony says, it's definitely bittersweet, but we just feel very grateful that the other baby is absolutely fine," he shared with OK! Magazine.

Briony was taken aback when she found out they were having a girl. "I had a strong feeling that it was a boy, right from the very beginning I was so convinced," she admitted.

"We even had a boy's name already. So to then find out that it's a girl, it makes me feel that maybe the twin we lost was a boy."

As they eagerly await their baby girl's arrival in Spring, Briony is planning another home birth. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be," she confessed. "That's exactly what I plan to do. We'll see how it goes."

"With Daisy, it was very straightforward and lovely, just experiencing the birth like that," Sam added. "It felt really calm, being at home. Afterwards, we had some toast and a cup of tea and then we were back in our own bed. It was very euphoric. So, it would be nice to do that again. It was lovely seeing how happy it made Briony too."
