The soap schedule has been all over the place recently, with ITV and BBC reshuffling their programming to accommodate The UEFA European Football Championship 2024. And now, with Wimbledon in full swing, viewers can expect even more changes to their favourite soaps.

ITV bosses are keeping Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans in the loop about these changes by posting updated weekly schedules on their official social media accounts. They often announce any alterations jointly.

Typically, episodes may be delayed to a later slot, or if they're taken off the schedule entirely, a double bill might be offered later in the week to makeup for it. But during the first week of July, soap enthusiasts were less than thrilled as Emmerdale was cancelled on Tuesday, July 2, and Coronation Street had some episodes starting as late as 9pm.

Taking to Instagram and X, previously known as Twitter, the teams behind Emmerdale and Coronation Street shared: "Heads-up, here's where to find your Soaps fix this week."

Accompanying the heads-up was a timetable showing no Emmerdale on Tuesday due to ITV's coverage of Romania vs Netherlands, followed by Austria vs Turkiye, reports the Express.

Many soap fans expressed their thoughts in the comments, with some questioning why the scheduling had to be affected at all, while others thought a 9pm start was too late for Coronation Street.

One user, @gffcontwitch, suggested: "There are other channels they could put football on!!," and @GenkinsRoger exclaimed about Emmerdale's absence: "What. No Emmerdale on Tuesday. F**K."

Another social media user blamed modern technology, saying: "This is 2024. In this day and age there should be enough channels for both soaps and football."

In contrast, some offered constructive advice - suggesting an earlier airtime for Corrie, @AscotAnna asked: "Why can't it go on before Bradley and Barney? ? " while @megster1986 pointed out: "I'll be in bed for 9."

@RossGKiernan_ then noted that this re-scheduling could conflict with Love Island, a sentiment shared by frosty1977 who added: "It clashes with Love Island so I guess I'll have to watch on catch-up."
