This Morning's Alison Hammond has explained why she charges her son a modest rent each month to ensure he learns the value of money, despite her own celebrity status. Alison's 19-year-old son Aidan, who is an aspiring DJ, resides with her in their expansive London residence.

In a recent conversation on This Morning, Alison said that she keeps her son grounded by requiring him to contribute financially to their six-figure mansion in the capital. This revelation came during a discussion about actor Jeff Goldblum's recent statement that he will not be 'bankrolling' his children and has no plans to leave them any inheritance, as he finds the concept 'distasteful'.

The Hollywood actor expressed that his two young sons, aged eight and six, will need to carve their own path towards financial independence. "It's an important thing to teach kids," the 71-year-old actor said, reports the Mirror.

"I'm not going to do it for you. And you're not going to want me to do it for you." Alison voiced her agreement with Jeff's viewpoint and shared that she is imparting similar life lessons to her son. Speaking on This Morning, Alison revealed: "I'm going into a new phase of life guys where, wait for it... my son is paying rent."

"I'm really enjoying it!" Alison added enthusiastically. "He's got to earn his keep," she firmly stated, Bristol Live reports. Guest Anushka Asthana, 44, shared that her parents never charged her rent and still cover her meals when they eat out.

Alison Hammond, visibly surprised, questioned, "Do you never feel like you should pay your way? " Anushka responded that her parents wouldn't accept her money, but Alison insisted, "You should put the money on the table."

Alison Hammond then discussed her own approach with her son Aidan, explaining that charging him a modest rent is 'teaching him' about the value of money. She mentioned, "He's getting a good deal! I'm in my new house," revealing she had moved into her 'dream' home earlier this year.

The TV personality went on to say that she charges Aidan £40 a month for rent, which he pays in cash. This money, she said, goes towards her beauty treatments.

Gyles Brandreth humorously reacted to the low rent, saying, "Can I move in with you! ? £40 a month! " Alison explained that it's part of getting Aidan used to paying bills and plans to increase the amount next year.

On the Parenting Hell podcast, hosted by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe, Alison spoke fondly of her arrangement, saying, "I absolutely love it. I go and get my eyebrows done, I go and get my nails done, and I pay in cash - perfect."

Additionally, Aidan's expenses include £30 a month for watching football on SkyTV, which his mother also charges him for.

With an estimated net worth of up to £4 million, Alison believes it's crucial for her son to learn financial responsibility, even jokingly referring to herself as "the landlady".

In a recent conversation, Alison Hammond opened up about her love life with David Putman. She shared that David and her son Aiden have met and seem to get along well, with her son "really liked him."

First reported in April, the 6ft 10in tall David, is known to be a trained body therapist with a host of skills including "classic, lymphatic drainage, anti-cellulite, wraps, facial massage", states the Mirror.

Alison first came into contact with David through his professional services when she allegedly booked a £150 massage last year.

The Sun says that Alison frequently used David's massage services amidst her constant filming schedules. This paved the way for a friendship which soon evolved into romantic involvement, with both commencing their dating journey towards the end of 2023.

David, who apparently doesn't care much for fame, wouldn't be bothered by the extensive 23-year age gap between him and his speculated lover, Alison.

A friend of the duo told The Sun: "David is a very quiet, unassuming and thoughtful person who likes to play the guitar. He's the strong, silent type, not a pushover, but not chatty like Alison."

They further added: "In that sense they're perfect for each other and to David age is just a number. He's not bothered by fame, he probably didn't even know who Alison was when they first met."
