On Wednesday morning, This Morning host Ben Shephard couldn't resist teasing his co-star Cat Deeley as they began their ITV broadcast.

They were previewing the day's guests, among them actress Sherrie Hewson, widely known for her character Maureen Holdsworth on Coronation Street, but who now plays a history-making role in Hollyoaks as the oldest serial killer.

When Cat shared that Sherrie would be joining the show live and revealed she was 73 years old, Ben joke-scolded his colleague, saying: "Don't reveal the age of a serial killer! Are you mad?" To which Cat responded with a self-deprecating: "Why on earth did I do that?"

The playful bickering seems to be part and parcel of their dynamic, given previous instances of humorous exchanges throughout the week. During an earlier episode, Ben even made a playful jab at Cat's husband while discussing the year's winner of the 'world's ugliest dog' - Wild Than, an eight year old Pekingese left with lasting injuries from a puppyhood virus.

As guest panelist Sonia Sodha remarked about beauty being subjective, Cat agreed, adding: "I also quite like an underdog! I quite like a dog with literally three legs or-"

The conversation took an unexpected turn when Ben questioned if Cat was more attracted to less attractive dogs. In jest, he playfully remarked: "That's why you married Paddy [Kielty]? " Their co-presenters were taken aback and managed to laugh awkwardly as Cat responded: "Oh my goodness, you know he's poorly at the moment! So, he can't sort you out!", reports the Mirror.

Cat and Ben have been hosting the ITV show together since March, following ITV's announcement of them taking over the show after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield decided to step away. They've developed a comfortable and entertaining on-screen relationship, often observed sharing light-hearted banter throughout the show.
